It is my honor to introduce the recipient of the 2024 Keyes Education Award, Colin Skaarup.
We welcome Colin’s parents John and Pamela Skaarup and family.
Colin graduates this year with a host of activities on his resume.
His academic achievements include a 4.0 average throughout high school, member of Junior and National Honor Society and a member of the Masterminds program, coding club and book club. Awards include Rural and Small-Town Recognition Award, National Merit Scholarship Letter of Commendation and a RIT Science and Math Award.
He was recently awarded The NYS Scholarship for Academic Excellence and the President’s Award for Educational Excellence at Tamarac’s Senior Awards night.
Athletics included soccer from an early age which led to modified soccer, lacrosse through Middle School and eventually track in high school.
Growing up he became interested in Computer Science, more specifically Game Programming. This led to an interest in coding which is the fundamental base that allows you to create games. He then chose to create a new club at Tamarac called eSports Gaming Club.
For Colin’s next chapter he has chosen to attend Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont studying gaming and eSports.
Congratulations Colin and best wishes for a successful College career.
